Last night, the rising global girl group Katseye made history by winning the MTV Push Performance of the Year award for their hit single "Touch" at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, held on September 7, 2025, at UBS Arena in New York.
Katseye is a six-member group—Sophia Laforteza, Manon Bannerman, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeung—assembled through the reality show Debut: Dream Academy.
Known for their K-pop-inspired training and global roster, they’ve quickly become a pop phenomenon. Their single “Touch” earned them the Push Performance of the Year nod, propelling them from online buzz to mainstream recognition.
At the VMAs, Katseye turned heads even before their win, rocking coordinated black-and-pink Dolce & Gabbana ensembles that reflected both unity and individuality. They also delivered a dynamic pre-show performance—not of “Touch,” but of their new single “Gnarly”—showcasing sharp choreography and stage presence that had the crowd buzzing.
The MTV Push Program spotlights breakthrough artists each month, and Katseye’s win for “Touch” (their January 2025 Push pick) underscores their meteoric rise. They clinched the VMA’s Push Performance award amid fierce competition and alongside a star-studded lineup of winners
Riding high on this historic win, Katseye is gearing up for their "Beautiful Chaos Tour" launching in November
This VMA victory not only cements their international momentum but signals a broader cultural shift toward recognizing global, diverse girl groups in pop music.
